How to Capture Sunrise Colors in Your Cardmaking

Capturing Sunrise using Azure Afternoon and Pumpkin Pie

Rise and shine with the perfect blend of Azure Afternoon and Pumpkin Pie inks! Let the Blending Brushes work their magic as they delicately connect these two hues, while Early Espresso adds depth to the moody shadows of grass and willows. Complete the picturesque scene with the Radiating Stitches die, creating a textured frame that perfectly captures the tranquil sunrise view. Embrace the art of cardmaking with a relaxing touch of nature's beauty! I was inspired by Mandy Havermaet's beautiful card on her blog, showcasing the use of Stampin' Up! Delicate Forest Bundle with this technique.
Take care,
Linda Ann

Using Blending Brushes to Create the Sunrise

  • The first step in blending is to cover your work surface with Grid Paper or a Glass Mat.
  • Using a Blending Brush inked with Azure Afternoon, start off the cardstock, swirling your brush beginning in the upper left corner of the 4" x 5.25" Basic White Cardstock.
  • Continue swirling while adding ink in the corner and moving towards the center of the design.
  • Begin fading the ink as the brush nears the diagonal middle of the cardstock.

  • Take another Blending Brush and ink it with Pumpkin Pie.
  • Using the same swirling technique, add color to the lower right side of the cardstock.
  • Again, fade the color until the diagonal middle is without ink.
  • You have created a "sunrise."
