Card makers often have a creative eye to notice a product's potential. While Seasons of Green & Good Designer's Series Paper is intended for holiday designs, I encourage you to flip it over and explore the reverse patterns that lend themselves to neutral card making. Neutral cards work well for many occasions, whether a birthday, celebration, get well, or a heartfelt note.

Take, for instance, the You've Always Been There for Me card. Using coordinating patterns and embossing the cardstock, you can transform a holiday design into a casual-themed card. The Thinking of You Always card showcases another idea for switching the holiday DSP into a neutral card for anyone on your list.

Cards for the Soldiers

A month ago I asked my card making friends if they would like to create blank Mother's or Father's Day cards for the soldiers. I would box up the cards and mail them to a former student, Kyle, of mine who is in the service. Kyle would then distribute the cards at his base, so that soldiers could mail the cards to their parents.

A Close to My Heart Consultant, Bobbi Jo, has organized crops to send cards to her son, Joey, who was in the service.  Bobbi Jo was my inspiration. 

It was so exciting to receive the first brown envelope in the mail!!!  This package was from a high school friend, Janette, and as I slowly opened up the envelope I couldn't believe how beautiful the cards were!  Janette kindly let me share pictures of the cards. For the next couple of weeks I will have pics of Janette's cards on this blog. Enjoy...

Thank You Card: Faux Linen

I learned this technique from Bobbi Jo V. a Close to My Heart Consultant.  Bobbi Jo found the idea on Split Coast Stampers: Faux Linen Technique.  Using photo paper, a thank you stamp, and black CTMH ink, stamp the words "Thank You" over the entire photo paper.  A card size stamp with a verse or over-all design works great too!  Once the ink is dry,  gently sand horizontally and vertically until all the gloss is gone.  Next, using a sponge, apply a light colored ink to the sanded photo paper.  Gently sand again.  After selecting a flower stamp, finish the card by stamping on the design, adding a ribbon, and adhering the photo paper to the card.
