How Can I Create Shadows with Stampin’ Blends?

Unbounded Beauty Truckin' Along Card

At Tranquility Cottage, I believe that coloring should be a relaxing experience, and that's where Stampin' Blends come in! These incredible alcohol markers simplify the process of allowing you to explore your artistic potential. Experiment with shading techniques using light and dark markers to add dimension to your designs.

With the popular Postage Stamp Dies, you can add decorative mats that complement the stamped images. Plus, coordinating colors is a breeze with the two-sided Designer Series Paper.

I hope you enjoy reading about my tried and true techniques, which I used to create the Unbounded Beauty Truckin' Along Card.

Take care,
Linda Ann

Tips for Shading Using Stampin' Blends

  • Start by using Memento Ink to stamp your image on Basic White cardstock.
  • The Stampin' Up! cardstock is high quality, acid-free, and lignin-free with an ultra-smooth surface, making it an ideal paper for stamping.
  • After allowing the ink to dry for a few minutes, begin with the brush tip of a dark Blend and draw over the lines. Extend the marker a bit by considering the areas where the sun shining above creates shadows.
  • Next, color the remaining sections of the truck using the light Blend in the same tone. Carefully blend the edges of the coloring for a smooth look.
  • You will notice the fenders and wheels are also colored with the dark Blend, which happens after the main section of the truck is completed.
  • The flowers were stamped and colored separately and adhered to the truck bed.
  • Use Dimensionals to pop up the truck and the flowers.
