A Handy Way to Store Small Quilting Rulers
A. Start with an expandable file folder, as seen in the picture above. This expandable folder is convenient because it's lightweight, has cut-out handles for carrying, and includes colorful dividers. The file folder fits in an IKEA Kallax unit, although I keep mine on the counter by the cutting mat.
B. Next, count out thirteen Job Ticket Holders, 9" x 12", to label and place in each slot. (I have used these holders for years - storing cardstock, organizing Paper Pumpkin kits, organizing stickers, etc.)
Tips on Labeling:
A. Using my label maker, I have a code to print and attach labels to the top of the Job Ticket Holders. (My label maker is no longer available, so I have linked to an updated version.)
B. The first two letters are an abbreviation of the company or manufacturer of the ruler.
C. Next, I write the generic name of the ruler.
D. In the picture, the first label is "BL: Flying Geese," which stands for Bloc_Loc, Flying Geese. Numbering or using color-coordinating stickers on the labels will assist in returning the holders to the correct slots.
E. All instructions for using the ruler are placed inside the Job Ticket Holder along with the corresponding ruler.
Storing Rulers in Mesh Bags
If you prefer to store your rulers in an IKEA Kallax System, the zippered mesh bags are a great idea! The inside measurement is 12.5" x 8.75".
Have fun organizing your smaller rulers!
