Elements of Text on Everyday Skies

Have you tried stamping on top of Designer's Series Paper? I am pleased with the results of my experiment with this mixed-media technique. Starting with a piece of Everyday Skies DSP, I used Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie ink to stamp words and splotches. It created a subtle but interesting design. When I designed the Elements card, it was late into the night Is that why the layers are slanted? I was having a hard time making the borders even. The tilted look was much easier to do!

How Do I Store Stampin' Up! Ink Pads?

In the early 2000s, when I first started stamping, I had a basket full of ink pads. I was a scrapbooker at the time. Initially, I experimented with different brands until a friend invited me to a Stampin' Up! card making workshop. I learned there was a right way to store stamps; therefore, I was on a mission to find good deals at thrift shops, antique stores, and online marketplaces. I experimented with CD cases, plastic containers, and Stamp-n-Storage (SNS) Ink Pad Holders until I found my favorite storage!

I bought a four-cube tower from IKEA and laid it on Alex's drawers. Next, I purchased a Stamp-n-Storage Carousel unit that fits in a cubie and holds sixty ink pads! Amazing storage. The Allure of Neutral Cards: Inspiration #6

 Create Unique Backgrounds with Stamps and Neutral Inks

One of my favorite techniques for creating a unique background is stamping cardstock with a slightly darker or lighter ink. Many times, stamping with an identical color delivers an unexpected texture, too. Consider using stamps with words, dots, lines, or other textures to create a neutral card design. Doesn't it remind you of the days in elementary art class when we rubbed over raised designs with crayons?

The background in the Element of Text Background card was created on Smoky Slate cardstock and stamped with Basic Gray ink using the Elements of Text Stamp Set. Have you tried an overall stamping technique when making cards? When using neutral tones, it's a freeing style of stamping. There are no worries about making a mistake.

Today's card is a simple design using an all-over stamping technique for the base, adding a textured layer, and selecting a striped Designer Series Paper. The final step is to include a popped-up sentiment on a scrap of white cardstock - check out my instructions for cutting the diagonal ends.
