Let's Start Organizing!

Set your timer for thirty minutes, turn on your favorite tunes, and start cleaning the most used paper crafting tools. Microfiber towels are my first choice for dusting and cleaning. However, I have switched from single-layer microfiber towels purchased in bulk to super absorbent coral velvet microfiber to wipe down my stamps when they need deeper cleaning. Why? The thickness of the towels minimizes lint!

For everyday stamp cleaning, I prefer the Stampin' Up! Simply Shammy. To prepare the Shammy, soak it in water until soft, wring out the excess water, and it is ready to clean your stamps by gently wiping the stamp to remove excess ink. The Standard Stamp Cases work well to store the Shammy.

On to cleaning the Clear Blocks. What's my tip? Wash the blocks in warm, soapy water - the original Dawn is my dish soap of choice. If the blocks still have some residue, Purell Hand Sanitizer on the microfiber towels tends to clean up the blocks.

Once my supplies are clean, I sort them into "like" categories. Some examples are grid paper, blocks, cutting tools, trimmers, and embellishments. In the picture below, I have sorted my card-making tools into IKEA containers stored in an ALEX drawer unit near my crafting table. Handy!

Boost Your Creativity with These Organizing Tips

1. Start Small with Labels

My Mom told me that my Christmas lists included a label maker when I was in elementary school. I loved my blue gift that when the circle was turned and landed on a letter, I only had to squeeze the handle to see a white letter molded into the plastic tape. I remember gathering a bunch of shoeboxes, putting my toys inside, creating labels, and setting them on a bookshelf in my closet. Today, my order of replacement labels arrived along with QR Codes for my totes - in over 60 years, this trait hasn't changed. Except - my toys have turned into crafting supplies!

Previously, I mentioned that my desire to "make something" hadn't been high on my list, so I decided it was time to start small, and labeling was my goal.

The QR coding system has been a lifesaver for my UFO projects. While looking for a project, I type in a name or number on my cell phone to quickly locate my next craft project.

Our family has started using the QR Codes to sort and label holiday decorations in storage, boxes on shelves in the garage, and totes with clothing. Love the convenience!
